Isokylä School

Our school is located in the city of Kokkola on the west coast of Finland.

Finland is located in northern Europe between Sweden and Russia.

We are a community of 590 students and 50 teachers. Our school is a part of a larger building complex, the Isokylä Community Centre.
Under one roof there is a maternity centre, a day care unit, a preschool unit and a school providing basic education for grades 1-6 and basic education for disabled students for grades 1-9.
Our school has 5 separate groups for disabled children and 1 special group for children with learning difficulties.

All our pupils eat a free, warm and healthy lunch at school every day. The food is prepared in our school kitchen by professional cooks.

An ordinary schoolday begins often at 8 am and ends at 1 or 2 pm. During the day there are 3-4 15 minute breaks when the pupils go outside and play. In the winter they can slide down the small hill on our schoolyard or go skiing and skating. That is really fun. In the autumn and spring the pupils like playing football and playing hide and seek.
